Yes, you are right it is a very harmful deodorizer but if used properly can be very effective. Yes you should have been warned about the use of ozone and should have also been advised that you should not be allowed in the structure while using. Very sorry to hear about your loss, since you are in my back yard I would like to come out and inspect your property to see if what should be done from hear. Protein fires do have a very bad odor and are tuff to remove unless done properly. Sounds to me like they used some very strong solutions. Medals and the collectable knives can be saved, use a mild soap detergent like for dishes, wash several time, oil down with appropriate oils and this should take care of the odor. As for the leather that is a total loss, duffel bag can be cleaned by a qualified drying cleaning company. I have very high success using ozone but the items should be cleaned prior to using.    « less

I would suggest you try 10% bleach and water, test in a small area first to make sure you damage the finish. After washing then ventalate for a couple of days using a fan to force air across these bad areas. You may also want to use a wood soap to clean if you dont want to use bleach.    « less

Sorry to hear that, they should advised you first of what type of product they will be using and making sure you are no allergic to anything. Most of the product used for a protein fire is bio degradeable and will not cause any irriations. To answer your questions - 1)& 2) all surfaces will need to be rinised off using fresh water only (damp clean) this might take several washes. 3) sounds like they used way too much solutions. 4) there should never be any kind of residue after ozoning (ozone is O3 which is heavier than O2 - oxygen) are you sure they did not using a different method maybe thermal fogging? 5) Sounds like they exposed your linen and clothing to too much ozone and the two ways to remove is proper air out, or have rewashed again. You may be right - not enough ventalation. I would suggest that you wipe the insides down with 10% bleach and water, let air for a couple of days. Hopefully this will help.    « less

All non porus items can be wet washed using mild dish washing detergent in warm water. All surfaces throughout the structure be cleaned (flat painted surface should be cleaned using a chem sponge, all other surfaces with a enamel or semi enamel finish should be washed using a product that will break down the soot.) I would recommend you contact a locat restoration company for some of these products. All soft furniture should be vacuumed then professionaly cleaned.
