- Jesse, The woman in charge of protein fire cleanup told me that the OZONE was harmless. That she works around it all the time. She had me going inside to move ozonaters around. She should have told me that it is a harmful subtance and that it can damage my lungs. After feeling quite ill with burning lungs I looked it up on Gov pages and many other websites all of which stated that OZONE is very harmful if breathed. The symptoms listed on all these website are the same symptons I have gotten from exposure to the OZONE and the fogging and "other chems which I don't know what they are. Aren't there safety requirements and liability obligations to tell me the truth about the dangers of OZONE exposure? Marilyn

- Jesse RE: protein Fire cleanup and Toxic fumes now in the home. Headache, lungs hurt/burn, eyes scratchy, skin itchy sick feeling I am not the only person who had the same physical reactions as stated in previous email. Even the adjuster who was inside today said she was getting a scratchy throat/burning eyes, being inside. We had the doors open. Two friends came to help last Thursday and both complained of headache, scratchy throat and feeling ill after 1 and 1/2 hour inside the house. I don't think it has to do with me being allergic. VERY TOXIC substances were obviously used. Even the Managing woman said they were very strong and caustic. I don't think these are biodegradable substances. They left a can of oven cleaner on the counter. What would they have used that for? That stuff is nasty. Please help Thank you Marilyn

- A loved one passed away but was not discovered for approx two weeks. We would like to save a few possessions that were in the home with him (most were thrown away due to the intense odor), but do not know if the odor can be removed. Examples: leather coats, duffel bag, medals, collectable knives. I've heard that ozone is really not that effective for this situation. Any advice on removing this odor from the contents, or is it a lost cause?

As for the leather that is a total loss, duffel bag can be cleaned by a qualified drying cleaning company. I have very high success using ozone but the items should be cleaned prior to using. « less

- After a protein fire The cleaning solutions/other possible things used by the company hired to deal with it have left my home with toxic fumes. I get a headache, throat hurts, eyes burn, lungs feel on fire, swollen glands, skin is tingly like fiberglass. 1) What will get those chemicals out of my home? 2) Do they need to be cleaned out/off with something else which isn't toxic? 3) Did they use too much? They washed every surface, walls ceiling, all my things, paper products everything? Also there is a residue smell, odor, gas fumes? from Ozoning my clothes. It has been a week and they smell the same Ozone chemical smell. 4) Is there a residue, a chemical reaction, or does it take longer than a week to air out ozone from clothes? I can't wear them with this smell. The company keeps saying it will air out. it doesn't seem to be. 5) How long to air out Ozone from the home before it's safe of all other chemical reactions etc also? Thank You, Marilyn

Sorry to hear that, they should advised you first of what type of product they will be using and making sure you are no allergic to anything. Most of » moreSorry to hear that, they should advised you first of what type of product they will be using and making sure you are no allergic to anything. Most of the product used for a protein fire is bio degradeable and will not cause any irriations. To answer your questions - 1)& 2) all surfaces will need to be rinised off using fresh water only (damp clean) this might take several washes. 3) sounds like they used way too much solutions. 4) there should never be any kind of residue after ozoning (ozone is O3 which is heavier than O2 - oxygen) are you sure they did not using a different method maybe thermal fogging? 5) Sounds like they exposed your linen and clothing to too much ozone and the two ways to remove is proper air out, or have rewashed again.
